I particularly don't care for the lack of ceramic cups and only having the option of paper or plastic cups. It is an inferior experience to ceramic and takes away from the experience. Though I do thoroughly appreciate the great selection of quality whole bean coffee, this is not enough to ever go back again. There are too many alternative options in Seattle.
Tucked beneath the Aurora Bridge in Fremont, Milstead & Co. is everything I want in a third-wave coffee shop — thoughtful, restrained, and quietly excellent. The space is minimalist but warm, with Scandinavian tones and just enough bustle to feel alive without overwhelming. The baristas here are serious about their craft but never pretentious.
