My husband and I stopped in for lunch today as we love bbq. Unimpressive does not even begin to describe our experience. The "bbq sauce" was glorified ketchup. Probably the worst sauce I've ever had. The macaroni salad was incredibly bland. My husband thought the baked beans were just so-so. The lunch specials were not even decent prices (especially considering the quality of food). The service was unremarkable. Overall, not worth a second visit.
We've eaten here several times. The BBQ is OK, and the service is generally good. However, it's more expensive and not nearly as good as Phil's. We drive the extra 15 minutes or so to go to Phil's. The lines are long at Phil's and not a Mike's for a reason.
The best BBQ anywhere. The meat is always cooked perfectly and their homemade sauces so delicious. Staff so friendly and very reasonable prices. LOVE IT

Anyone who says the food is good either has bad taste buds, or is family or friends. This is the worst bbq place i've been to yet. I love bbq, and i don't consider this place that at all. Even i could do better myself. I wasn't too impressed with Phil's either, but it's a lot better than this one! The best i've been to so far is Bubba's in La Jolla. Not everything there is great, but the meat and bbq sauces are awesome.

Thank you for feeding my husband & crew dinner tonight. They needed it after being out there fighting these horrible fires since Tuesday.
Mike's BBQ is my favorite Escondido hang-out; with over 50 taps you can select your favorite beer, and the food, like the prime rib (on Thursdays), or the pulled pork SW is just great! Have a great time soakin' up some suds at the bar at Mike's! 8|
