Pretty Tasty – I like Mikado a lot - the atmosphere is much nicer than the frat house Japanee or Domo's "golden corral" feel. The sushi is pretty good - I really like the Hoosier roll.
Good Sushi in Bloomington If you're going to eat sushi in Indiana, go to Mikado! They get fresh shipments weekly and have a great selection. Good atmosphere and prices. It's usually full on the weekends which is a good sign that it's the place to eat. Gotta try the Tommy Roll!
Rude, smug, overpriced, go to Domo or Sushibar – amazing that this sh!t hole is still in business. The service is terrible, the manager kid is an idiot that doesn't know how to run his daddy's business. if you have a complaint, that it straight to the little idiot with the oversized sears suit on. He'll treat you like a 2nd class citizen, blame any problems on you, and do absolutely nothing to resolve problems. Hope this cr@p hole along with the hilarious chintzy place he has next to kroger goes out of business.
The positive note: The wait staff is as nice as they are allowed to be. The food is okay - when you get your food within a reasonable amount of time. However, when my teriyaki chicken was served with a small bowl of rice that was half full- I knew we were in for a terrible experience. The downside: The management/owner (Mark Kiang) is horribly rude and cannot take criticism of the service. I had to check out this restaurant to make sure that I did not just experience the worst service ever in a resturant and come to find out... read more
The food is just okay, and the waitstaff is awkward but they try to make this place work. However, they are fighting a losing battle as the sushi takes forever to make, the portions are cheap, every special request comes with a price tag, and there is no coordination between the kitchen and the sushi bar. Little attention is paid to the needs of the customers, either in terms of food or service. And if you are in the restaurant at the same time as an "important" customer or a big party, don't expect to get your food at all. ... read more
Surprise -- it's great! You wouldn't think you could get great sushi in a strip mall in the middle of Indiana, would you? This is one of our favorite places to eat. If you are adventerous, there's plenty to try, and they have sakis, as well. If you are timid, there are teriyakis. Essentially, something for everyone. A nice miso, great sushi, good dressing on the basic salad, not bad atmosphere. Sometimes it's a little off -- once the beer wasn't cold, once the shrimp tempura was soggy (usually fantastic, with squash, sweet p... read more
DO NOT GO HERE – Horrible service and RUDE management! Not to mention over-priced sushi! Don't let them neglect to tell you that a side of yum-yum sauce costs extra! Cheap a**holes!
