Mijares has great Mexican food & margaritas. I especially like the dump burrito. The restaurant is loud and better suited for large parties or groups. Outside seating is nice on a warm evening. The music is pretty loud, but it's very authentic Mexican. We've done lots of birthday parties and celebrations there. Great place to eat and drink!
Rest. Mgr. about town – Just went to the original El Cholo's and was mostly dissapointed, thank god I can always come back to Mijares. The outdoor patio dining area is one of the best in So. Excellent Margaritas – "George's Special" Margaritas are smooth and excellent. I recommend them on the rocks. It has a beautiful banquet room for parties. It looks very festive when it is decorated. I love dining on the patio at night. It's cool, refreshing, and quieter than inside the restaurant. It is like being in a different world. I think the best menu item is the Lobster and Shrimp Enchiladas. It is my personal favorite.
Oldest and Best – Best Mexican in Southern California. This family-owned Pasadena icon attracts locals and celebrities seeking the best quality Mexican dining experience. For nearly 90 years, Mijares has been the place to see and be seen!
Pass on it – I just don't get this place. The food is so so, the drinks are fine but expensive and the service has never been friendly or fast. My friends love it, but I'll pass.
The Best Margarita – If you too are on the quest for the best margarita, you must stop by Mijares and have one of George's Specialties. You will not regret it. Sit at the bar and watch the master at work. This place is so relaxing and welcoming. Even if it's your first time, you feel like you're a regular. The food and service are great and Tom treats you like you are a part of the family.
Asi Asi – The margaritas are big, the chips and salsa keep coming, and the patio is grande, with plenty of heaters. So year-round Mijares is one of the best places in Pasadena for outdoor dining with friends. Standouts include the albondiga soup and the snapper sauteed in tomatoes and onions. Ask them to trim any fat from the carnitas.
It's a restaurant, too – Strolling mariachi band, fresh spicy salsa and killer margaritas. On the patio, there's nothing better. Great service, friendly barkeeps.
