Midwest Sad is comfort food. We've been coming here for months now and have tried a wide variety of the menu. The desserts are highlights and are a reason to come on their own. We particularly like their pistachio pudding and their cinnamon buns. In addition, their biscuits and sausage gravy and egg salad sandwich are standouts. Everything is delicious and there's lots of vegan and vegetarian options
We showed up 2 hours after opening (times also posted on the door) and the front door was locked. We knocked on the door and the barista just stared at us and then turned back around and proceeded to make coffee. Just a weird annoying experience??
Online menu is inaccurate. Went in to get a State Fair Smash Sandwich, nope you don't have those. Decided to get an Egg Salad Sandwich and it was good but small and price was an additional $2. $ tip was asked for before even tasting the food? If you want more money, just raise the prices... oh wait, you did that too. Tips for service counters is wild, even if it's getting more common.
