As of 9/2024 real estate agents are no longer required to be a member of the Association of Realtors trade organization, and no longer have to pay realtor dues in order to have MLS access. When MDMAR contacted me and threatened to turn off my MLS access because I have licensed agents in my office who are not paying for Association of Realtors dues and do not have MLS access, I panicked. Warning: working with this board could cost you sales opportunities. They will shut off MLS access without warning. I’ve worked with this board for many years and in the past, they would email and call me if they needed anything, like dues payments. Recently I renewed my license with OREC. I was required to complete 21hrs of continuing education, including code of ethics. Without it, my license would expire.
