We visit the OBX nearly every year. Storms had a major impact on our trip this month. While we expected certain inconveniences, our last day on the island was a nightmare. Tropical Storm ******* closed the OBX at Rodanthe for about 48 hours. Dunes washed out and had to be rebuilt. Our group has been visiting the Outer Banks every summer for ** years, and we have never had a worse experience as far as renting a house goes. We decided to head farther south this year, and thought ******* was one of a few realty alternatives (later found out there were more than we realized). Our house was Kissed By The Sun in Salvo. The guest is correct that mold was found in an under room storage area. They are correct that it is was in an area that is not often checked because it is mainly a secondary guest storage area. The mold had bled over into the outside bathroom by the pool, which is what caused the guest to find the mold, it was not obvious or conspicuous, prior to it being in the bathroom. I have used Midgett Realty probably 8-10 times over the past 25 years and have never had a problem with them. In fact, they have better rental prices in Hatteras Village (our favorite village on Hatteras Island) than anyone else. And they have a great selection of low to mid-priced houses that we are interested in. I would recommend Midgett Realty for an OBX vacation rental.
Our family is currently staying at ********* a Midgett property for two weeks. Our excitement for a peaceful holiday quickly vanished when we arrived to find that we are woken each day by the pounding and screaming of builders next door out side every window in the house beginning promptly at 7:00am and continuing until 5:30pm in the evening. My response to ***** was that we indeed cannot control the construction around our rental homes. This particular instance is a lot that has been in the neighborhood for 40 years and has not been built on. the lot sold and the new owner is building a home next to the home that she is staying in. Midgett Sales is selling the home, we are not renting it. It is beyond Midgett Realty's and our homeowner scope to control/legislate what the owner of the vacant lot can and cannot do.
