I had a very poor stay at the Microtel in New Ulm and cannot recommend it to anyone. Multiple aspects of the hotel were either broken, misrepresented, or below basic standards. Major Issues: Misleading Information & Broken Amenities: I called months in advance to ask if the pool would be open and was assured it would be. Upon arrival, it was still "under maintenance" and had been for months. The meeting room was also unavailable for the same reason. White stains on pullout couch, no sheets on pullout couch, dirty underwear in bathroom at checkin, no housekeeping, charged 4 times for one stat, mold in pool that caused asthma attack to friends daughter, multiple people got sick, and locked out of room a total of 16 times for the stat with one of them lasting 5 hours until almost 2 AM!!! We stayed for a hockey tournament- the rooms are tiny but we could live with that- Friday night we and many others (the whole 2nd & 3rd floor) were locked out of our rooms for many hours 6+- happened again on Saturday this time for only 30 minutes- I don’t think the garbage was taken out in the lobby the whole weekend they were overflowing. We stayed here for a hockey tournament and the first night we were locked out of our rooms for 5 hours because the keys would not work neither would the key programmer. The pool had mold all over and the vents were leaking water we left with over 15 different keys because they would not work and the room was not well cleaned either
