Food was great. Two different fish sandwiches, shrimp & grits were great. The baked mac and cheese with shrimp was okay, not worthy of an 18$ plate though. The garlic bread was not near done. Service was slacking, not even busy. We were there on a Tuesday early afternoon. Service should have been much better.

Best seafood chowder I have ever had. Shrimp & grits were awesome. Everyone in our party of 9 enjoyed their food!
I did my early voting and could not resist stopping at Michael's while I was at Carolina Beach. The chowder, as always, hit the spot (even though it was too hot for soup, you make an exception for this chowder). They had on their Wednesday specials for lunch a shrimp bake, so I thought I would give it a try. It was fantastic, however, I almost wish I hadn't tried it because I was told it will not be on the menu. It was absolutely delicious. I hope to see it as a special again!
We visit Carolina Beach once or twice a year. We always eat at least one meal at Michael's Seafood, and we always order the seafood chowder. We love it. I don't even know what else is on the menu because we're just there for the chowder. The service has always been good, and we've never had a long wait to be seated. You should go there. You should get chowder.
The best Seafood Chowder, ever. If you have never had it then you have never had the best.
