Michael Helminiak is a terrible nurse psychiatrist. We introduced our 5 year old son to him after finding him on the headway app. While he was quick to take us on, he is not skilled at his job. He labeled our son with many incorrect diagnosis that our new doctors disagree with. He never really talked to our son in any of the appointments. I went to see this nurse practitioner, thinking he could offer therapy support. I shared that I was feeling depressed and explained three past life events that were contributing to how I felt. Instead of receiving empathy or therapeutic guidance, I was told I was being “random.” He also asked very personal irrelevant questions—like how much money I have, how often I bathe, and how often I shave—without explaining why. I had given up on psychiatric help for a while due to scheduling availability. I came across Dr. Helminiak on a neighborhood FB post and booked my appointment for a Sunday morning! I didn’t even have to miss work. I was able to share my issues and finally felt heard and validated, I walked out with a plan for care and already had 8 hours of sleep the first night on my prescription. I was able to use my BCBS coverage on my appointment as well as my prescription.
Just had my first meeting with Michael and I’m already feeling as though a weight has been lifted. I felt like we were on the same page when it came to helping me and my family. We are very excited to work with him!
