Dr.Martella went out of his way to help me feel comfortable. His head nurse was professional and respectful. I am new in town, and am honored to be a patient of Dr.Martella.

Everytime doctor is seen, it is an excessive wait for a very short and not thorough exam
Dr. Martella treats me like a person first and a patient second. I've seen reviews on here complain that he doesn't take their mental illnesses seriously, but I have experienced the exact opposite. Not only does he constantly ask me how I'm doing mentally, but he empathizes with me and listens. I have never felt more respected by a doctor. I moved to Manitowoc and still go out of my way to see Dr. Martella.
My experience with this doctor is as follows: He discusses the treatment plan, and does not follow through. People with anxiety/panic disorder DO NOT handle unexplained, frightening situations well. So, DO NOT have your nurse call and tell me and tell me,"Your ekg was bad and you need to see a cardiologist right away." Then, I receive no call from the cardiologist for weeks and you tell me "Here's the number" at the next visit. Ty for helping me ruin my life.
Dr. Martella seems like he is helpful and understanding but is not the case what so ever in my own experience. I have a complicated mental and anxiety issues but refuses to listen to me, let alone understand my POV. I've been through various treatments and medications in my entire adult life and treats me like I have no idea what my body is reacting or not reacting to medication and treatment. Entirely unwilling to work with me as a patient who is well aware of what hasn't worked in the past and
I began seeing Dr. Martella following the retirement of a previous primary physician. I was very taken aback by his Medical Assistant who I later learned was fired. His second MA was no better. She refused to address me as I requested. When I complained to Dr. Martella he was totally indifferent to my concerns. When I saw him re symptoms of a chronic condition he totally dismissed me. I sought a second opinon and was hospitalized for 4 days. When I complained again. He refused to ever treat me.
This was my first visit and we discussed my treatment goals and Dr Martella's advice.
