I had very pleasant interactions with the staff here. I wanted to say this because I see others describing different experiences. I think it’s probably hard to put on a happy face when you’re seeing so many donors in a day. But whenever I requested something from the staff (during a platelet donation) they were helpful and friendly.

I’ve donated blood with New York Blood Center many times over the years and will continue to do so because I believe strongly in the mission. The wait times are generally reasonable, and the donation process itself is efficient. That said, there’s one aspect of the experience that has stood out to me every single time I’ve donated: the lack of basic human interaction from the clinical staff. My review is based on weekday donations. I have only done a few platelet donations in this location. My experiences have been overall positive from the staff. Needle insert at the beginning is good and after removal of needle the site of the needle (arm) has minor to no bruising which is great as I am prone to bruise easily in general. Suggest if possible for a more spacious Grand Central location to accommodate more donors (especially the walk-in’s) at a popular location.
