I arrived at the downtown Mercy ER at 1am. I was the only one in the waiting room when I arrived. I explained when checking in that I had just had a procedure done in the hospital a few days earlier and had the catheter removed the day before. I told them that I couldn't urinate and was in so much pain that I couldn't even stand up straight. Amazing experience! Everyone involved in my care, including Payton (nurse), Amber (ultrasound specialist), Kara (PA) and Dr. Olson (OBGYN) went above and beyond while taking care of me. They were friendly, funny, and excellent at patient education. I felt comfortable the whole visit knowing everyone had my best interest at heart. I was being a bit of a hypochondriac thinking I had an existing condition suddenly turn life-threatening, it turned out I just need a minor surgery at my convenience to fix the issue! Just a few aches and pains but I can deal with it until then. The nurses, phleb and Kimberly Ferrante were all prompt and compassionate with me and I got out the door within an hour with a scan and diagnosis. Thanks guys!
I shattered my right arm in a motorcycle accident and came here for treatment. From the moment I entered the facility it was horrible. The only good part about it was my main doctor who was very kind. One of the nurses was incredibly strange and kept making inappropriate comments towards me when he would enter. The x-ray nurse was horrible as I shattered my radius bone. She forced me to rotate my forearm for her x-rays when I was screaming and crying for her to stop.
