Great place amazing workers
I sincerely appreciate the level of kindness and care I received this evening in the ER. Dr. Jones was thorough in the tests ordered and eased my fears from the symptoms I have been having. The nursing staff were fantastic too. Hvala Dr. Jones!
First and foremost, Mercy is one of the best hospitals and I " UNDERSTAND URGENCY" for care for ER patients. However, I can't fault the whole hospital because of one workers incompetence. Especially the receptionists who check people in. I have to say I am extremely disappointed and heartbroken for the way my mother was treated yesterday. I rushed her there because of what her PCP recommendation was. She stated that my mother was having "Stroke like symptoms." The lack of professionalism is simply astounding. There was absolutely zero sense of urgency from any of these “nurses”. When getting my blood drawn, the young man began complaining to me about the “Boomer” generation and how needy and annoying they are. The large brunette who checked me in was sure to flare her nostrils and roll her eyes at everyone who came in. The waiting area has cockroaches, filth and vagrants laying around inside and out. There were some bright spots in this nightmare but not enough to change my overall opinion. Mercy emergency room is overwhelmed by need. The facility, the staff, they need help. This is my third bad experience in helping my elderly mother as she struggles with health concerns towards the end of her life. The wait is always long and made worse by uncaring/overwhelmed staff who have become numb to and take a defensive attitude with frustrated patients.
