From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and truly taken care of. The owner, Rick, went out of his way to make sure my mom had easier access to our room, which meant so much to us. His caring and friendly attitude really made our stay special. The location is wonderful — close to everything yet still peaceful and relaxing. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and we’ll definitely be back again!
Great location and a historic building, but that’s about it. We were greeted by a very friendly young man (Sean?) who explained things to us. Unfortunately the lady in the office was extremely unfriendly to not just him but also us, to the point where it felt like workplace bullying. Totally unprofessional. Warning! We booked Melville house but didn’t end up staying at this property. As others have said Bait and Switch is the name of the game. You will book one place based on pics and reviews and on arrival find it is “not ready” or maybe he offers an upgrade, there was something about barking dogs, or someone mumbles something about only staying for one night. It’s my favorite hotel in Newport. The host was very welcoming and nice. The room was well arranged and cozy. It gives authentic Newport experience. This place makes you want to come back.
