The lady who took us to our room was rude and unprofessional and they called the cops said they wanted me to leave because they claimed that I didnt have the money to pay the bill but no one would look at my bank app to see my balance of 327.00 not med vet or the rude police officer one lady answering the vet Kerry is her name she refused to give me the first names of the 5 ppl answering phones so I could tell the office manager about me being told I could come up there so the office manager can talk to them to find out who ... read more
We had to take our dog to MedVet Akron, transferred her from VCA Great Lakes ER in Warrensville, Ohio. She had low blood sugar and needed to be on an IV dextrose drip overnight. VCA didn’t have a vet after 1:00 a.m. so they had us transport her to MedVet Akron. They charged us $3,000 before they even took her inside! We were not allowed inside because of Covid restrictions. They ended up keeping her overnight and the reports from the vet were that her prognosis was “grim” and they weren’t giving us hope that she would recove... read more
STAY AWAY! MONEY VULTURES FIRST, ANIMAL CARE LAST!! I took my puppy in who had aspirated a piece of dog food late at night, as the other 24 hour emergency vet we normally use was closed due to a doctor shortage. I had never been to MedVet, so I didn't know who they were and didn't think to check their reviews first. For a minor injury they wanted to keep her for 3-4 days at a cost of $5000! We rejected that and said we would take her to our vet the next day (Sunday) as they opened at noon. Just to keep her for 12 hours in a... read more
Please do not go here. We had an animal spayed for $400 and we received a call that it died. We went there because we wanted to see her and were devastated. We were told at that time that we need to pay additional fees. Just unreal! Just wanted to warn others.
We took our cat to this place. He was sick, he had issues. We got him in. then we had to pay a full estimate of 2,500 as a down payment for him to be treated for two days. They told us if he gets worse he needed surgery. We got him back. less then 24 hours we had to take him back and then we opted to have him put to sleep. The way the doctor spoke we'd be buying time with him. He told us that the surgery comes with risks. For the money we shelled out. My family feels they didn't do more then bare bones to try and keep him al... read more
I would give them a negative star if that was an option. Following is our first and last experience at this facility: Me and my wife had brought our 13-year-old Golden Retriever, Simba, who is suffering from Laryngeal Paralysis and who also struggles trying to sit and get up but is still always happy, friendly and in good spirits, to their facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, to get an echocardiogram. When we reached this facility, we were told that we were not allowed to accompany our old dog into the hospital which was not indic... read more
Dr. Doyle at MedVet Mandeville, LA operated on my boy and when he started having complications the day after I picked him up MedVet could not contact D. Doyle. They said he is unreachable after leaving the office, and they offered no help. The surgery cost $4,200 and I guess that means you are on your own afterwards. If it wasn't for my local vet I would not have had anyone to turn to. I would not recommend MedVet or Dr. Doyle to my worst enemy.
They are NOT a 24/7 facility. They may be open but if you take your pet in on a Sunday it will be forced to wait until Monday morning for proper treatment. Our dog is paralyzed because they waited to perform an emergency surgery. Our dog had IVDD. Every website or research we have looked at states the first 24 hours is critical for a good outcome. Our regular vet also said it is critical. Yet they told us an overwhelming body of evidence shows otherwise. When asked to provide this "evidence" they could not and refused ... read more
