I am a 20-year head and neck cancer survivor. Radiation treatment damaged tissue in my neck muscles, ear, tongue, mouth and throat resulting in swallowing difficulty throughout this time. I was hospitalized in November 2025 with aspiration pneumonia due to the swallowing problem. I was referred to speech therapy to improve swallowing and prevent aspiration.
