I have an HDHP through my employer, I had an upcoming MRI for my lumbar spine and called them beforehand to get an idea of what the cost would be. As private companies do MRI's now so I explored that option. I ended up billing it through the insurance because the agent I spoke with on the phone told me that after insurance it should only be around $500. I thought that this was a fair price so I went through with it. I get my bill today and IT IS NEARLY TWICE THAT and no one could explain to me why. I wouldn't have billed it ... read more
