About this business

The menu offers breakfast and lunch, but make no mistake about it, as the main attraction is the diner itself, a greasy place that serves as a Mecca for a group of regulars enjoying a night on the town. This cafe dates back to World War II, so it is no surprise that it has acquired a musty character over the years. You may not be able to make out your friends through the smoky air, but half the fun of coming is to try. Typical American pub grub is offered, heavier than usual with grease—burgers, fries, sandwiches and t... read more

Great Dive/Restaurant I found this place during my lunch break, its definitely different from regular lunch places. It's more of a dive bar/restaurant, I have to be honest the place kind of freaked me out when I walked in because it was dark and people were drinking around noon but I decided to stay and try their food. Let me say I am glad I stayed and tried their chicken fried steak and fries. It's delicious. Also their club sandwich tastes great. They also serve breakfast all day, which is cool. It's one of my favorite pla... read more

I love the Mecca – What other dive and Seattle Institution gives you the best tuna melt under the sun and a waitress who makes one hell of a good bloody mary? Mecca is one of the best things about living in lower Queen Anne. If you haven't been here, go.

Mecca Coffee Rules – Oh, the coffee at the Mecca is like rocket fuel, only stronger. The drinks at the bar are equally as strong. The breakfast menu is heart-stoppingly awesome.

Don?t make the pilgrimage – My last visit to the Mecca was my last. All my friends and I wanted was some food and drinks. But all we got was the worst service (thanks in large part due to the lying, dimwitted, neanderthal bartender) I've ever had. Then, when I complained to the manager (I'm not convinced he really was the manager, but he claimed to be), he kicked me and my friends out. At that point the s--- h i t the fan, words were exchanged and I may have poured out my beer on the service counter. Anyway, the staffs' resp... read more

tip top two top tolerance, plus awesome hairfood – this place is great... stand in line with a friend on a busy weekend morning and they'll let you know that any four top that comes in behind you will be seated first. i love such honesty! also, their scrambled eggs come with not one but two pieces of hair. and it's long hair! i can't wait to go back. this is the hippest place i've been in a while.
