New mattresses were way overdue for my husband and I, so I went with McRoskey guided by my chiropractor's recommendation, the fact that they're locally made, not some new fad, flippable, reasonable height (I don't need to be 5 feet off the floor when I sleep!)...and have certainly stood the test of time. I grew up sleeping on a McRoskey, and didn't experience anything else until going away to school, so I always associated dorm beds with discomfort (and extreme narrowness!) I then moved away and ended up sleeping for years on an IKEA mattress - not bad, but now that I know better. I recently replaced my IKEA mattress with a McRoskey, what a difference! I used to love McRoskey. I had two busted discs in my lower back from college crew, and for years I didn't have a single night of good sleep because of the pain. I tried Posturepedic and Tempurpedic; both were fine for the first hour, but the thing about back pain is what happens after a full 8 hours of anything. This is why ergo consultants are always mantra'ng that you should take frequent breaks at work.
