Mcmenamins Tavern & Pool

4.3

About this business

This auspicious tavern provides true rest and relaxation with its dark wood furnishing and old-time aura which gives out a feeling different from other McMenamins locations. The place is quiet, but the pool table entices some people to mingle. The food is as relaxed as the atmosphere, so order up your usual favorites including pizza, sandwiches and great salads. The seasonal brews are listed on the ever-changing board; to really unwind, go for a pint of Terminator IPA.

Original beer, but usually terrible service and internet connection – One is easily ignored here and the wireless is off and on, usually off however. The food is way below average for NW 23rd. There is no good reason to spend your money here.

Great Raspberry Lemonades! – I'm not crazy about the food at most McMenamins, but I do like that this locale is comfortbly off the beaten path (even though it's on NW 23rd). I would suggest the alcoholic raspberry lemonades to anyone. Delish!

bad hamburgers – I actually went the the McMenamins in Beaverton Town Center, even after a couple beers the hamburger was not eatable, had to send it back. So, again looking for a beer after work tried again, with no plans to eat,we sat ourselves at a table and was promptly ignored, people who came in after us got their beer,we still hadn't seen our server. GOT UP AND LEFT, saved ourselves 20 bucks!!!!

Great trendy spot – The location is great. You can go and play pool or even get a big group together to get some good drinks and food. The table do fill up fast especially on the weekends so get there early enough.

While the other McMenamins in the vicinity are regularly packed, this tavern on the outskirts of Northwest remains mellow. – In Short A quieter, longer-haired crowd gathers here, looking for good beer, better-than-your-average McMenamins food, and Deadhead atmosphere. Visitors can usually get a table, even outside. Inside there are 3 pool tables and the signature McMen fare: great burgers (the Captain Neon with blue cheese and bacon), salads and sandwiches, and huge baskets of fresh-cut fries. Meals can be paired with one of... read more

User review by uppilot – Absolutely horrible service, this fact seems to be a consistent trend of McMenamins Restaurants, took 10 minutes to get our menus, another 5 for our drinks, and 20 more for our food. The servers were also rude, very disappointing.

Burgers great, service doleful! – The same food as all the other McMenamin's joints, which means one of the best burgers and reliably greasy fries and a bank of trusty brews for any palate. The "mellow" could be accounted by the decor, which appears unchanged since it opened, and the staff who are at turns surly, sullen, disinterested and rude. They hate you and they're not afraid to show it! But then they've all been there forever, so you'd probably best look elsewhere if you expect to be treated like a valued customer.

Fun atmosphere, terrible service – I could say a thousand good things about the food, the brews, and the atmosphere, but I'll only eat here if I have some time to waste. On the busier nights, it may take 15 minutes for a server to even notice the presence of a customer. As for this particular McMenamins restaurant, I highly recommend the chicken strips with Hammerhead barbecue sauce and the gyros pita sandwich. Both are to die for. However, as with any McMenamins, you tend to pay a pretty penny for whatever you order.
