When brothers George and William McKinnon went their separate ways in the early 60's, George McKinnon opened McKinnon's Meat Market in Somerville's Davis Square with his friend and protege, Jimmy Kontos. A few years later, in 1965, Kontos purchased the Davis Square landmark from McKinnon, and ran Somerville's hometown favorite butcher shoppe for the next 50 years.
