I've been a McDonald's manager and never before seen a restaurant with locked bathrooms, let alone one that required a cashier to press a button to let you in, and a button you had to press to get out! However, The man talking to himself outside the men's room, who followed me into the men's room to explain in detail how he himself cleaned and uncloged the men's toilet - while I was peeing, mind you - made it clear why the locks are there.
