If you like overcooked – Their fries are really overcooked and dry. I have to put a lot of ketsup on the fries to make them taste good. They have improved over the years though, so maybe they will get better. I guess if you drink a lot of beer at Mcmenamins the dry fries may compliment the beer
AWESOME PLACE TO EAT – McMenamins has many place that you can visit, each with their own special food items and some with special entertainment attractions, such as a movie theater with couches. The food is excellent, the servers are friendly, I would defintely reccomend McMenamins to anyone and everybody.
Disagree – They used to be very good.....now very poor. Last four times I've eaten there......fries cold, almost rubbery.
OK, but... – Nice, convenient pub. Not the worst I've ever been to, but by far NOT the best.
Nasty Fries, inattentive staff – Stringy greasy fries, slow service, wait staff that doesn't seem interested.
Slickest Fries in Town – I love McMenamins, I really do. But those fries are ghastly. I can see my reflection in the grease on those shoestrings! If they had an underlying flavor, I could forgive the grease, but they just don't. # 1 fries in Portland? I think not.
What is this craziness? – I can't believe McMenamins fries are rated as number one! They're long, skinny burnt pieces of cardboard drowning in oil. They are the worst fries I've ever had, and are consistenly bad from restaurant to restaurant. Not even the good beer at McMenamins can help their fries. If you've never had them, consider yourself lucky!
Best fries?!?!? – What? How could McMenamins even show up on this list? They have the most terrible fries I have ever tasted in my life - soggy and greasy. Hold one up and it just flops right over. I like my fries crispy and light. You want some good fries? Go to the Old Market Pub on Garden Home and Multnomah. Their beer battered fries are a taste of heaven!
DISAGREE – Seriously, these are the WORST fries. Imagine a unique combination of GREASY but still DRY and BRITTLE. That's what they are.
