We stayed in Loop G and it was lovely! Sites felt a little too close to each other but the campground is a 10 minute drive from the Rim so you really can’t beat that. There’s a fire pit, picnic table and a few logs to sit on at the site. There were quite a few water spigots that get tested every day for quality and the bathrooms were clean. The fact that there’s free clean showers at some of the loops is amazing, and the water was piping hot. Public shower, over 200+ sites and right inside the park. Stayed 1 night without a reservation. Sites can be a bit small and tricky to set up with a tent if you dont get one with flat ground. Kind of crowded as well, felt like I was involved in the neighbors camp time. Regardless enjoyed our short stay and would be back.

I want other campers to know that the first-come, first-served process at this campground is not handled the way many people may expect, and it was not clearly explained on their website or Recreation.gov. We arrived late at night with no cell service. Online, it appeared that Loop C and Loop D were open, but when we arrived, those loops were closed. I wish the website would be more clear about when the fcfs spots would start being dealt out. It says check in is at 4pm but when talking to them they said that they usually run out before 4pm. On the morning we left at 9:30am and overheard them already checking in a fcfs spot. Overall though, it was a great site and had everything you could need!
