I would travel out of the state, to get my treatment, if she was the only oncologist in California. I had my first visit with her in June 2021 to get established in Stanford, after moving to San Jose. She answered three calls during my visit, one of which was patient related and totally understandable, one of them was completely personal. She was not focused enough on me as her new patient. In 2019, I met Dr. May Chen for a second opinion. After that, I switched insurance so I could be under her care. She is patient and explains options and advice thoroughly. She is a problem-solver: never a “we can’t do that” but will work with you to craft a treatment that works. She thinks outside the box. I have a rare genetic disorder that makes my case a little challenging. However, Dr. Chen figured out how to provide me with the best care, tapping geneticists and other oncology specialties.
