i am a leader for Sierra Club, and we often have dinner after a hike. I have tried a bunch of restaurants, but Max's is the group favorite. They have a wide variety of foods, so anyone can find something they like. Their portions are very generous, and the prices age good. They can accommodate a large group of 10-20 without problems, and they will even do individual checks, something many restaurants resist

The point of NO RETURN! I will not go back to Max's after the rude treatment I received there by a waitress. I ordered a salad at lunchtime. They gave me a dinner sized salad and charged me the dinner salad price. When I got my bill and objected, the waitress asked, "Well, did you eat it all?"

Sinfully delicious I go here for every birthday. The food is good and comes in great quantities. You can almost guarantee yourself good leftovers. When you go, you must have dessert here. The ice cream sundaes are done particularly well.

A little pricey but very good Anyone who has been to Max's can vouch that they are a little on the steep side for some items, but the food and dessert there is excellent. The fried calamari appetizer is delicious, and the firecracker shrimp / prawns (not acailable at all locations) are a great main course. Order several desserts to share with your friends, it's too hard to pick just one!

Fresh food and great portons served in a friendly enviorment-Much better than the frozen crap served up at the chain and Mom&Pop places. This is a hidden gem for those who know what wholesome food is about.

Been Better... Max's seems to have lost some of its luster lately. It used to be a really great place for "American food", particularly since so many places on the peninsula are ethnically themed. Here was a great place for a meatloaf dinner, or a really good burger. I remember being here and always having really good food, but lately, I've been more and more disappointed. Maybe my tastes have simply matured, having been exposed to so many really really good places in the meantime...
