I like Max's and this particular location. I've always had good experiences, and the food is always great. Most people I know rave about the corned beef or brisket. I don't think the service is that great all the time--many servers act like it's just a job and they don't care about the customers. But there's something fun and enjoyable about this location--it's smaller than the one in Palo Alto and the live music (piano and singing) makes it worth it.
Great happy hour menu (5:30 - 7:00 I think), generous portions, professional and timely waitservice, diverse menu, to-die-for desserts, who could ask for anything more? Love their Russian Cabbage Soup!
Good food We've been going to Max's for years. Today we stopped by because we couldn't find anything else to do and it was pretty good. I like their "sliders" and their raisin bread is amazing! We also got a (huge) banana split which was okay. They used to use a higher quality ice cream, but now it's not so it wasn't all that good. I don't think I'd get an ice cream dessert there again, but their ultimate chocolate cake is great!
Good choices We've been going to Max's for years, in fact we used to take all visitors to Hobee's and the Redwood City Max's because they have something for everyone. We decided to go back to the Burlingame one today since we hadn't gone in 6 years and were on the way. The server was really good. He really seemed busy but always got us what we asked for. This is a bad place for a diet! This is a good place for a diet. This is my favorite Max's to go to. It has live music on the weekends (I think other times too, but definitely on weekend nights). What I love most about Max's is that it has a huge menu - a) even the pickiest eater can find something they like b) you never know what you'll be in the mood for.
