Wanted a memorable Anniversary dinner and we definitely got it at Maxine's on Shine. It is nestled in a residential neighborhood so parking during peak times can be a bit tricky. There is a pretentious vibe but without reason. The hosts are friendly but wait staff shares the vibe of “Order and get out” somewhat passive aggressive attitude. They automatically add an 18% tip, no kids 7 or younger are permitted and a 4% card charge (the normal charge is 2-3 so are they keeping the difference). Biscuits were so dry. This place such a nice hidden gem. We shared the crab cakes appetizer, which were excellent and full of crab meat. It's a cozy little spot tucked away in a historic part of town that blends in with the neighborhood from the street. They have a large courtyard and intimate indoor space with a fairly large bar. Their pricing and quality of food are great. I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're looking for a locally owned and unique spot for food and drinks.
