Rinse it out well next time. I ordered broiled scallops-steak combo. The scallops did not taste right. They appeared to have a "bleach" like taste. There is a practice in the food chain to use diluted ammonia or bleach to mask turning seafood(This removes oder). I was with a business contact and did not wish to make a scene. However, the waiter did offer to give me something else but we we way too far in the meal. I was charged full price, but I leave this review as the owners "Tip",
a good place to eat I've grown up eating at Matthew's with my dad so I know I have a bias. It's a great place to get breakfast or brunch or go for an early dinner, when it's not incredibly crowded. It's also best to go without a large group. It's definitely not teen-friendly, as people have said, they don't like kids that much here because they assume they'll sit around and not buy anything, which is sometimes the case. Nothing Beats Mathew's Mathew's is the greatest diner. I go hear all the time and at anytime of the day. They aren't 24 hours but they are open pretty late and serve great breakfast all day. Even people from out of town love this place.
matthews serves garbage the food is usually terrible, especially their dinners, and the waitstaff is paid a paltry $2 per hour..the kids from ridgewood and waldwick are obnoxious and their parents are even bigger jerks, i've seen kids leave pennies for a tip..and humiliate the waitresses, the owners could care less, as long as the can live in their mcmansions....lousy food
My favorite Diner Love this place! They are great for a late night snack, or a nice weekend brunch. Their chocolate mousse cake is the best I've ever tried and the prices are very resonable.
great lunch special! It's not often that I come across a REALLY great lunch deal...I mean one that makes you do a double take on your bill. Inside, it's nice and carpeted (my son even took off his shoes/socks!) with lots of space and seats. Now, get this, the lunch special includes a cup of soup, beverage AND dessert with the entree! I got a grilled chicken wrap that had sundried tomatoes and fresh mozzarella chunks. It was sooo yummy! And, the price? $8.75. Crazy, right? Not Teen Friendly Chocolate chip pancakes and cheese fries are awesome but it is not kid friendly. They dont like big groups of teens or kids with out parents. They also have a minimum.
