This doctor is exceptional plain and simple. My mom only speaks Portuguese and his patience and beside manner with her is extraordinary. Anyone that goes to Dr. Askin will not be disappointed . However, you might be disappointed with your other doctors since your experience with him will elevate and redefine your reference point and level of care. This level of high medical care should be the norm but sadly it is the exception to the rule. Don't hesitate to see this doctor.
I have already recommended this doctor to a few friends. He is knowledgeable and kind and communicates well. In addition to that, he is patient, which I find to be rare among doctors these days.

Absolutely horrible. Went to him for abdominal pains. Went for endoscopy and waited 3 hrs. for him to arrive. Never called me with results or address my pain. Never called me Had to call and spoke with receptionist for results.
I have seen Dr Askin over the past 10 years for Gi concerns as well as routine care. He has been so helpful smart, compassionate, and practices highest quality of care. My husband & I are both honored to call him our doctor. S.S, MD
Rude, inconsiderate and disrespectful. Refused to let me speak my concerns. Disregarded advice of my regular GI. Didn't want to run the needed tests at the same time so he could milk my insurance separately. Then told me to follow up in 2 months for an issue that reoccurs every 2 weeks! I regret even paying the $20 copay not to mention waiting a whole month for the appointment. Worst experience ever!
He started the appointment by telling me that what my blood levels showed were not overly concerning to him and that he wanted to put my mind at ease before discussing my case. He said he wanted to ease any anxiety I might have so that I can relax in the appointment and listen without worry. I found that to be extremely kind. He was extremely communicative and overall was very kind and empathetic, while also being firm in telling me lifestyle changes that needed to take place.
