I went in due to knee injury. Dr Matava was very professional and friendly. I am a RN and was impressed! Hopefully no return needed, but would go back to him without hesitation.
When you're going for a checkup on an existing muscle injury and the team forces you to get an x-ray. The checkup with the Dr. was great, but the x-ray was over kill and they're just trying to bill you for things that are not always necessary. The thing to keep in mind is that Barnes Jewish bills the x-ray separately and it will cost the patient $200-$300. They bill it as a hospital and it will go against your deductible. I told multiple people that an x-ray was not needed, but they repeatedly forced the issue.
Dr. Matava was very friendly and knowledgeable. He did more to help me in my first visit then my other doctor did in 4 months.
Dr Matava is professional and a truly caring Physician. Cortisone shots to both my shoulders last week made me feel like a new person. Thank You!
Torn R meniscus in 2008. Arthroscopic surgery in Southern Illinois in August 2008. Gait, unsteadiness, pain & walking like a tortoise 6 months post op. Contstantly asked for a repeat MRI with contrast to no avail. The Illinois doctors wanted me to go to a pain clinic. No way. Second opinion by Dr. Matava, MRI with contrast.
