I didn't actually see Dr. Barker, I saw one his PA's, Christina. I have seen her twice now and she has been great! She talks fast, so I have to be on my toes, but I really like that she is willing to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. She doesn't make me feel rushed and is sensitive to my needs during exams.
He may be technically very good as a physician specialist. However, I felt like I was one of many patients in his busy day and I was an inconvenience when I asked questions for learning and clarification rather than just go along with the normal plan and routine. He was appropriate and professional; although he seemed in a hurry and bothered. (I felt something like when you herd cattle through pens and chutes; efficiently managed and moved along.) Today's visit was especially important because I am in a lot of pain. I appreciate 1) that there was an opening for me. this cannot be taken for granted 2) the wait was short and everyone, from reception to accidentally running into the doctor and discussing my treatment plan made my otherwise physically miserable day a very good one 3) I cannot let my nurse get by without a compliment on her complete professionalism and ability.
