By far worst utility company on earth. If you’re struggling they will charge you 3x the rate and smile to your face while stealing your grocery money. For anyone who’s been robbed by MEA I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO REPORT THEM THE REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA FOR ILLEGALLY CHARGING YOU 3x YOUR RATE. I told MEA about some trees that are encompassing my lines between the power lines in summer of 2025 (around august) and they said that they would take care of them and clear them. Now, it is christmas eve and I was just told I would have no internet until the 26th because one of those trees contacted the internet service line and broke it. Since MEA was not proactive in the clearing time, I will be out of internet throughout christmas in a home location with garbage phone service.

Because I have not paid for electric in my name in the past, I am required to pay double the average monthly electric cost + the start up fees, and the first month of rent. I will be paying almost $800 for my first month with them. Despite being military with promised, consistent pay, the down payment is still not waived. Such a scam!

The power outages are no fun but thank you so much to the staff and crews going out in the dark, the cold, the snow and the wind to get it back on as quickly as safely possible. You are all awesome.
