The urology team at MGH Main Campus were superstars getting my husband through a kidney stone diagnosis through surgical removal. They were world class in their skills amd knowledge, caring, responsive, and positive. They are an incredible team!

I am writing to express my concern regarding a recent series of phone calls related to my canceled cystoscopy appointment. I initially received a missed call from MGH Urology with no voicemail. When I called back, a staff member told me the call was about the appointment I had canceled. I explained that I had canceled because I am on blood thinners (aspirin 81 mg and Plavix) and was unsure if I needed to stop taking them before the procedure. My father had bladder/prostate cancer, he passed 20 months ago. There were so many issues with this department and the lack of communication. They would throw their hands up in the air, saying it wasn’t them, it wasn’t us, My father had multiple departments working together and each department had difficulty communicating with urology. It got to the point that we submitted a complaint and opened a case. They have too many patients and not enough time to care. Lack of communication and unprofessional. Rude and dismissive secretary/administration. Impossible to get a call back, called 10 times and still no call back. Everytime I call they "leave an urgent message" and tell me someone will get back to me. Ive called everyday for over a week. Had similar issue 2 months prior as well. Do not recommend.

Very impressed by Dr Avinash Maganty, MD. He listened fully and communicated very well. I would recommend him generally as a doctor and specifically for anyone facing kidney carcinoma challenges. The larger department of urology was perfectly adequate. But like any medical system in America, you get out of it what you advocate for.
