I really appreciate Dr.Poonen. She shows her concern, engages in dialogue to make sure my medication is working for me, as well as provides explanations for meds and adjustments . I feel we are a team !
She is to the point and honest with you. She asks the right questions and answers yours. She wants to get you the help you need and cautions patience when trying to get your meds right. If you understand this going in you will get the most out of your experience. She responds well to well thought out questions. Know what you're experiencing; what you like and don't like about the medications effects, communicate that with her and she will work with you.
Great Doctor. Easy to get a hold of and helped me more than I thought possible. My favorite doctor!
I just tried to make a new client appointment because my insurance had changed. She asked me what medications I was on, I told her what had worked for me for years, she then talked over me and said she wouldn’t prescribe those medications together. I could barely say a word before she interrupted me and she told me what she thought what would work for me. Horrible doctor, just throws prescriptions at you. Incorrectly diagnosed and medicated me. Tried to charge me hundreds of dollars and only in cash for some deductible she wore I needed to meet. After months of dealing with this I left and told her to bill my insurance if I really did owe that money. Never got a bill. Makes me suspicious of why she only takes cash or check.
She was rude even though I remained friendly. Not sure if this is a cultural thing. She cut me off many times while I was explaining myself. She does seem thorough, though. On subsequent appts I went in guarded, expected to get in & out quickly, didn’t try to hv a conversation. Works fine since I just need Med mgmt & am stable. Would like to find another doc just don’t hv the time.
Not a solution. She was treating my son for ADHD and it felt like a drug dealer transaction. She never once checked his vitals while prescribing medication. Cant recommend to any children.
Poor recordkeeping. Kept billing the incorrect insurance company despite instructions not to do so. Be VERY careful with her billing practices. She went way beyond the 90-day maximum claim submission for my insurance; then threatened to submit me to Collections after months of trying to unsuccessfully correct her error. My daughter begged for a different psychiatrist after unsatisfactory sessions.
Her bedside manner is horrible. she asked me if i was a lesbian because of my rape issues. Shes EXTREMELY rude and never asked me any questions as to how i was feeling, she just writes out the prescriptions and sends you away.
