Firstly, I wish I would have seen Dr. Karkow’s google reviews from others with similar negative experiences before I went to see her. I have struggled with TMJ pain for many years and was referred to Dr. Karkow by my dentist. I went in to see her and at first she was very friendly and explained things thoroughly and set me up with a splint appliance. I also wanted to share that the cost of an appliance with her practice is $1000 out of pocket- but if you want to have them bill your insurance it is $1500. A couple months into... read more
Had appointment quite awhile ago. The biggest issue I had was a lack of sensitivity and warmth. She was harsh and too bossy and I ended up more scared due to her words. I cried after that appointment.
Dr. Karkow and her staff are awesome. They take time with you, and never make you feel rushed. Dr. Karkow is a very compassionate and friendly doctor. She recognizes the role life events can play living with TMJ.
I have no idea why there are any reviews with less than 5 stars on here. I just saw Dr. Karkow and thought she was one of the best doctors I've seen in a long time! She was very thorough, discussed steps moving forward, and made me feel like she genuinely cared about me and my health. The kind of compassion and professionalism she showed has been lacking in the general medical field lately, and it was nice to see there are still great doctors out there!
If you are sensitive, have special needs, are on the spectrum, struggle with anxiety please stay away. I am sure she is a perfectly good doctor for those who can pull themselves up by their own bootsraps, but for those who are actual humans with emotions, not the best match.
