No person has the right to decide my values. I was not allowed the disability i deserved for actual Catatonia and a phq9 of 27. I was required to work when it was impossible for me to do so and it was his word that denied me income for all of 2022. I finally received the SSDI disability i deserved as of 8/13/2021 the last day i was even remotely able to work and he refused to let me have it - he even told me to simply do the bare minimum which was impossible for me - he said if i did not continue working while disabled i wou... read more
I saw dr. Hoiness for 10 plus years at Virginia mason in Seattle. Well, he did his job. He prescribed my medications. My appts were on average 3-5 min. While on ariprazole, I gained a significant amount of weight. This was not addressed. My depression and anxiety worsened over time, and included hospitalization and suicide attempts. But perhaps the saddest, most alarming visit was when I was at my most vulnerable. Crying and discouraged by my lack of improvement, he was dismissive and to be frank, impatient. I’ve seen Marty Hoiness for a number of years, initially for testing and later for medication management. I have found him to be knowledgeable, thoughtful, compassionate, and responsive.
I can not fathom the negative comments regarding Dr. Hoiness. Such are so antithetical to my experience with this exceptional clinician. I worked with Dr. Hoiness for 2 years when he was affiliated with Swedish. I always found him compassionate, knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend him without reservation.
I had an important 1st appointment with Dr. Hoiness today -- he double-booked me. My record of emails proves it, however he refused to take responsibility. He sounds like a great doctor, but these kinds of errors in Psychiatry can't be made (get an office assistant).
I'm mystified by the few negative reviews. Dr. Hoiness is rigorous, explains all angles of treatment decisions, which are collaborative, is empathic and has a winning personality. It's very easy to schedule with him, and the 30 and 60 minute appointments allow time to explore issues in depth. I have recommended him to several people.
Not a good psychiatrist for anything but getting a prescription. He is incurious and dogmatic. His lack of compassion and verbal ineptness are breathtaking, considering that he cares for people who truly struggle with mental illness. He is flippant and dismissive.
Marty Hoiness, MD Psychiatry has a 3.9 star rating with 22 reviews.
