Everyone claiming that solar and wind wouldn't be able to replace Martin Drake Power Station are ignorant of the economics, right now as of July 2022 solar by itself is the cheapest energy source. Cheaper than just the operating costs of coal plant per kWh in fact. Now that does not account for battery backup which is needed and would add significantly to the cost, but battery costs have plummeted in the last 2 decades and will continue on the same trend for at least the next decade.
