The transfer from the hospital has been poor, very poor. My 92 year old mom broke her L2 back. Surgery not required. However, PT physical therapy needed. The hospital nurses said she needs to move (walk) to avoid muscle loss and pneumonia. We arrived over at extended care late Friday. So she will not be given any PT or even walking because of “the weekend”. So she is supposed to stay in bed and get weaker??? They said they can’t do anything until Monday. Lame. Very lame! The staff here works hard and tries their best, though my relative endured some problems with care coordination and miscommunication / lack of communication between the hospital and the rehab unit, as well as among staff at the rehab unit. People need to pay better attention to the chart. That said, the nursing staff made some very important judgements while my relative was there and I am very grateful to them for it. The discharge planner made a appointment to evaluate my client, I arrived on time and discharge planner very unprofessional, made me wait for 35 minutes and she didn't even make her time to apologize for being busy.

My relative had a recent stay to recover from a broken femur and hip injury. He received excellent care from the RNs and CNAs. Anytime he needed something, they were right there. The physical therapists worked well with him and put him through exercises that helped him get strong enough to leave after 2 weeks instead of the estimated 45 days. He enjoyed the food as well. The only downside would be the small rooms that are shared. You have a tiny space, and it isn't set up well. There is only one bathroom per shared room. My ... read more
