It is summer in Chicago, but you do not want to go into a drug store to buy any old ice cream, you want the real thing. If this is the case, make a trip to Bucktown and visit Margie's. Since 1921, Margie's has been making its own candy and ice cream, and it still uses only the best ingredients to produce the best product in Chicago. Family owned for generations, this spot has withstood the brutal ups-and-downs of this neighborhood for over 70 years. Well worth a visit, even for the most discriminating sweet tooth.

The cappuccino malt was excellent.
Root beer is incredible!
So many options!!! This old school ice cream shop is great!
Don't see what all the hype is about. Had the raspberry hot fudge sundae, it was ok nothing special.
The raspberry sundae is my favorite! Add hot fudge to make it even better. You can choose the type of ice cream you want for your sundae

A Chicago institution, Margie's is worth all the hype. The house specialty--"heaven in a white clamshell dish"-- combines three scoops of ice cream, nuts, whipped cream and hot fudge.
Margie's giant banana splt on chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream, topped with thick hot fudge, fluffy whipped cream and crushed peanuts is still the best split in the city!
Ice cream is amazing and nice atmosphere!
