As usual all went smoothly today. The staff at Ivey Institute were attentive, the clinician doing the screening tests and visual fields were pleasant and Dr Mao was on time and thorough. Always a good experience..
Went to see Dr. Mao re low vision I heard about his rave reviews. Well we were not impressed. He didn't have a caring attitude and it was like why are you here. YES we went to a eye doctor and under the care of a othamologist but the case is very complex and wished a opinion since he was well regarded. And the $800 digital magnifying glass there were no other affordable options. Had my contact lens appointment with Dr Mao on May 16 2025. Dr. Mao was very patient during the assessment and assessed my power twice. This was my first time getting contact lenses and Hiwa (the assistant) was very thorough in demonstrating how to put them on. Would definitely recommend. The St. Joseph's hospital has multiple entrances and I had some trouble finding the exact location of the office inside the building. Cellphone reception is also finicky inside the building.
