Romantic restaurant with an Oceanside View – Mangiamo Restaurante and Bar is nestled comfortably in the Downtown section of Manhattan Beach, located just off the ocean. Perfect for a romantic dinner date, this restaurant offers an array of steaks, salads, and pastas--and the wine list is even more varied. Be sure to get there early--parking tends to be tricky during the evening hours.
Unique romantic dinner spot in Manhattan Beach – After walking up and down the street, we decided upon Mangiamo's for dinner. First off, they carry my favorite gin - Hendricks - and the crowd was trendy. The greens were good (they serve a peppery salad), and teh swordfish that evening was outstanding. Creme brulee for desert was thick and mixed with ripe blueberries. We went on a weekeday but I imagine it's quite crowded on weekends.
Very romantic – I went here a few months after passing by it so many times. This restaurant is one of my preferred restaurants in the South Bay I don't remember the food being anything spectacular, the restaurant is a bit small and loud but it's really romantic which I really liked-good date spot.
Pause – Mangiamo is a lovely upscale dining experience. The food is delicious and they have a great variety of menu items. Dessert ladies? Anything with chocolate (cake or souffle) ala mode is heaven. Service is good but will someone please tell them to pause when coming to your table? There's nothing worse than today's wait-staff eager to butt-into your conversations to mention today's specials. Stop being so rude!
This is NOT an Italian restaurant – It may have an Italian name, but it is definately NOT an Italian restaurant. Anyone can serve pasta, but to be an Italian restaurant you need to serve pizza, and more then one kind of pasta. Your food needs to be RED WHITE AND GREEN just like the flag. Wonderful Manhattan Beach Dining – The scallops are plump and flavorful, the veal - succulent and tender... We had a large group and everyone enjoyed their meal, the wine, the service... The whole evening was perfect!
Exceptional Taste & Service – The food is excellent! There is a wide choice of seafood/italian at a moderate price. I had the crab cakes, which came served with mixed greens in a sweet vinagrette and herbed risotto. My friend ordered the shrimp risotto which was superb as well. The service was very attentive, even when the restaurant became more and more packed. We had a party of 15 and they treated us graciously despite our size. The atmosphere is intimate and above average. Would definitely come again!
must try!!! – it was great that we didn't have to wait for a table since we went for an early bird dinner last nite. all the staff in the restaurant are curteous and friendly. our waitress made some great suggestion on my food choices, and they came out perfect in every way. i had the Charlie Halibut, which Charlie (not the inventor thou) actually brought me my dish... =) Mangiamo offers delicious dishes from the beginning (appertizers) to the end (dessert). this is a definitely must try and must re-visit.
A very good higher-end Italian restaurant just steps from the beach. Nice little bar looks directly out on MB Boulevard and is a perfect place for people-watching. Food is generally very high quality. If you can, it's fun to get a table in the largecave-like wine cellar in back.
