If you have time – I'll never say Mandina's doesn't have good food and great atmosphere, but New Orleans is full of outstanding restaurants -- I rarely find the patience to wait at this consistently crowded place. I will say that the packed house offers good (and true) testament to the Mandina's experience; enjoy a meal there if you can.
Perfect Po' Boys – A great neighborhood spot that's always packed with locals. Have a cocktail or two while you wait and take in the scene. Although the entire menu is solid, a po' boy is the way to go. Both fried shrimp and fried oyster po' boys are enough to make your legs week. You'll be back.
High-class meets neighborhood joint – Given its (above-average) standard menu of sandwiches, soups, seafood and pasta dishes, Mandina's carves itself a place at the table alongside Michael's Mid-City Grill, Katie's, Liuzza's and the like.
