A longtime classic UW restaurant reinvented in the UW Village area. Mamma and Papa are no longer with us though their welcoming ambiance and great cuisine remains; and, one of their sons, Roberto, has done wonders straddling the old and the new. Mamma’s old recipes always draw us back, as does Papa’s art! We always enjoy a special lunch celebration (outside on the deck in nice weather) or a dinner replete with a myriad of choices at Mamma Melina’s!
Mama Melina's is delicious and staff is fantastic. Sad to say that last night, Sunday, February 17th, I arrived at 10 pm for late night happy hour after a soccer match and was informed that last call was already called. My friend and I left, but were slightly confused as the sign on the door indicates they are open from 11:30 am-11:00 pm Monday-Sunday and the website indicates Late Night Happy Hour is from 9:00 pm-11:00 pm 7 days a week. Yummy rissoto, good wine. Music was a bit loud, but lovely candlelight and ambience with a familial atmosphere.
