The Last of the Honest Mechanics Was referred to Mallens by a tow truck driver after my serpentine belt snapped. John took care of it right away. As it was being worked on I discussed another problem a Chevy dealer (Sullivans in Roseville) had told me was the catalytic convertor. John told me there was no way it was the convertor. I brought it back to him and it ended up being a simple tune up. $250 later (as opposed to $800) I was running right.
Mallen Auto turns Toyota Paperweight into a Camry I heard about Mallen's automotive by word of mouth. I am fortunate that I did. Blown head gasket on Camry turned into a major defect on the 2.4L 4-cyl engine - the threads of the head bolts had been ripped out of the engine block.Toyota said "$6k for a new engine" - what? with the same defect? #**F$#*!! John Mallen said "it's a motor, we can fix it." He designed a repair, and then fixed it. All at a reasonable cost well below the Toyota estimate. Now, it runs like...well, lik... read more
trustworthy When I first took a car to Mallen's, all I knew was they were the best Honda car repair shop locally. But as I have needed work done on my car and now my sons car, I am amazed at the quality of work done at a price more than fair. They don't jab you on parts they have to order from dealerships and know whats the best idea for fixing the vehicle. If you just need info about how to go about the whole process, they will give you expertise, look everything up, and teach you the whys and wherefores. Sometimes repairs ... read more
Very Helpful Mechanic I was referred to Mallen's for repais on my car and was told they didn't do thos repairs, however they were helpful in referring me to a mechanic who could help with my repairs. PROS: Nice people CONS: Don't do all repairs
Satisfied Customer! I love Mallens Automotive. They are always fast and fair. I have taken my old Ford Explorer there for a number of repairs and they are always helpful. Once Mrs Mallen even has the technician come out and check my brake fluid and then add some no charge! I appreciate having such a trustworthy automotive repair shop locally! A very sweet family too!
Excellent work but VERY busy Have had many cars fixed here over the years. The job was always done correctly the first time. John and his wife are honest and hard working. If it is something he doesn't repair he will lit you know ... like some smog and electrical problems. Prices are a little high and you will have to wait all day for many jobs but they will do it right the first time. Four stars for rushed feeling and high prices but excellent work. PROS: Good work and honest CONS: Hard to get a job done that day... must ma... read more
