I debated for 2 years whether to write a review, but I feel it's important so that others can advocate for their health. I visited Maine Health Gastroenterology in April 2021 with some concerning symptoms. I was able to schedule an appointment, but not with a doctor, with a PA. Immediately, I was disregarded by this person and she even rolled her eyes at me when I showed concerning photos. I had my first appointment yesterday with Dr.Flynn. From the moment I stepped through the door everyone was so kind and welcoming. The front desk staff are personable and helpful, the nurse that checked me in was very empathetic and easy to talk to. Dr.Flynn took the time to listen to my concerns, and was kind and knowledgeable. I’m so glad I went.
Don’t bother. I waited months during a severe gastric flair. When I finally got in I was told to “bulk fiber.” I have severe motility issue that causes severe pain and issues. Told to continue “life style changes” “diet changes” even when I had tired this for years with no relief. Then told to take over the counter medication, despite my motility issue being present from birth. I’m so sick of being told I have IBS when I don’t fit the clinical diagnostic. Took 8 months to say I don’t know, and then BGH found the issue in 1.5 weeks
The staff are top notch and bed side manner skills are outstanding!! Shout out to nurse Wendy...such a kind woman with lots of knowledge, compassion, and patience. And great sense of humor!!
