My experience at McGeachey Hall in Portland, Maine was extremely disappointing and upsetting. The staff there were dismissive, forceful, and showed very little compassion or understanding for my situation. In particular, Dr. Stuhr tried to pressure me into taking Gabapentin even after I clearly stated that I did not want to take it. My experience at McGeachey Hall was honestly one of the most discouraging and disheartening encounters I’ve had with the mental health system. I came in truly struggling and hoping to get real, compassionate help — instead, I was met with dismissive attitudes and a complete lack of understanding or effort. The doctors and staff seemed uninterested in actually addressing my mental health issues. Awful place to go I was there for over 20 years worst mental health services around my Doctor was self centered and uncaring was telling me my meds where working when they where not working there are many other places to go stay away from here if you care about your mental health.
