I?ve had a handful of good experiences (polite at least) at the store and usually find the appraisers very tolerant to my lack of knowledge. Today I went in with a bunch of scrap (I believe its called) or broken/mismatched/junk to have inspected and an employee I?ve never interacted with before sassed the sh1t out of me. He was so upset. Thought id share

I recently went t Maine gold & silver to sell my gold after seeing the news reports of the high gold market and telling me to trust your local jeweler. They came highly recommended Ican now see why. The staff made the experience fun and informative and the prices were MUCH higher then any of the other places I had checked in the area. i went to one of those hotel scams to see what they would pay and they offered less then half of what Maine Gold & Silver paid. I went into Maine Gold and Silver on April 26th to sell some gold pieces I hardly wear. I have to say, I did not know what to expect. Not only was I treated very well but they offered me far more than I had anticipated (I had weighed my items and calculated price based on internet info) I was helped by Jeff who actually gave me advice to hold/not sell certain items that seemed worth keeping (older unique family pieces). Absolute best Jewelry store in the area. I have gotten several pieces there, and each time it is after shopping around for the best price, and the service is excellent. They don't have ridiculous 1/2 off sales or other silly promotions, just honest value every day. The estate section is the best!

I have dealt with John at Maine Gold/Silver at least four times and have found that each time I received the highest possible price for my scrap gold, silver coins, etc. I did shop around in other cities and towns and found that after I would have sold to those dealers, they then go to Maine Gold and Silver to sell what I would have sold it for and make a profit. I will continue to recommend sellers to deal with Maine Gold and silver. Paul in Paris, Maine

I have bought and sold many pieces of gold and silver from here, they are great. service is terriffic, prices are great and they always make sure you leave happy. great silver prices as well.

I have been going to Maine Gold and Silver ever since a friend introduced me to this fabulous store so many years ago that I cannot remember the date. I visit from Texas each year and am always inmpressed by the prices, the service, and the selection. I spend my jewelry money there happily. The people there are so warm and friendly.

It's too bad that some people have to leave bad reviews when they don't get what they want. I have sold several times to Maine Gold & Silver and have always gotten a very fair price, MUCH higher then anyone else in the area.

I called Maine Gold and Silver and asked what they were paying out for scrap gold..they said they were paying the current price. I knew how much my gold weighed and how much the current price of scrap gold was. They weighed my gold, their weight was less than mine and the price they would buy my gold for was a little over half of what it was worth. They said they had to make money too. I did not sell my gold and feel sorry for the people that are cheated by these people. It's wrong. I hope this will make people shop around f... read more
