The Maine Fish Market building is one of the oldest commercial buildings in the state, dating back to 1780's. The Vamvilis family began a Fish Market in 1980 that had a retail market and served take out fish & chips and other seafood entres. Nick and John Vamvilis have run the restaurant in the current location since 1986.

Absolutely amazing food and the portions are huge!
I have never had a bad meal over the course of 30+ yrs dining there! They are very decently priced if you compare them to average Steak & Seafood restaurants in CT. And to comment on someone else's review....I've never had old food (tasting like the fridge) or been automatically charged for gratuities. If ever the case- they would quickly correct anything a customer objected to. Hands down one of the best restaurants around!
The food is good but over priced. My family of 3 had two house salads, where tomatoes tasted like they were in the refrigerator too long, two cups of chowder and fried shrimp from the luncheon menu, and it came to $54. We had a party of 8 but we had the checks separated out and they still added an 18% “tax” which really was the gratuity hidden under a tax name. It’s a bit sneaky if you ask me and it explained our $54 bill. The server should have mentioned gratuity was already included. Overpriced.
Great seafood and comfortable atmosphere!.
Food is awesome. Large menu with reasonable prices. Have market price to fixed prices. Large portions & decent atmosphere. Service was great! Highly recommended!
